Went to the dentist for a tooth cleaning this morning, and had to
endure some of the most awful pop crap music I think I've ever
heard - since the last time I was there! Nary an acoustic
instrument within earshot, except for some massed brass on one
tune; all the female singers sound *exactly* alike, except for pitch;
every tune played at exactly the same tempo; and no dynamics.
It was awful! And I was trapped with it for an hour! It was enough
to make me swear off going to the dentist - except that my teeth are
so bad, and the treatments are so cheap, I cant afford not to have
the work done. I think I'll have to invest in some good ear plugs.Mike

Either it was one big tooth or one slow dentist.Playlist in my office today -
Getz/Gilberto
Ben Webster - There Is No Greater Love
Charles Mingus - Pithecanthropus Erectus
Wheeler/Konitz/Frisell/Holland - Angel Song
except that I never see dentists --I might make an exception, though.

Do you set the mood for your patients Dmitry?
Mood is pretty simple, John - drill, fill and bill.
Wagner for extractions is kinda cruel, as I saw the Apocalypse Now last Friday. :))
BTW, I just realized I forgot to answer you about that Live Billie Holiday Lp. It is a document, more than anything. Blows away Songs For Distingue Lovers and most late Billie discs I've heard in terms of the real feeling of a small jazz club; recorded in Storyville Club in Boston, probably in the early 50s. Sound is pretty crappy, but definitely listenable. Great record. Glad I picked it up.
