Finally found the Original Reader's Digest Box Set w/Barbirolli's famous Sibelius 2nd

The "collector's" market is interesting: "old" is "best" and "most valuable," but couldn't find many mega-buck sales of this treasure trove of excellent performances by famous names, recorded by K. Wilkinson. (Maybe the "Reader's Digest" or "Dynagroove" thing turns people off. ) Perhaps shipping 12 records to China....

Beyond the just glorious and luminous recording of the Sibelius 2nd, this set also contains Danon Stravinsky Petrushka. My favorite Audiophile heretic--Arthur Salvatore--lists the Stravinsky as *the* "best" orchestral Lp ever. At least the Chesky reissue. How can one not be intrigued? (The sound is amazing, still prefer Ansermet's tempo shifts.)

The Chesky reissued Sibelius can't be had for under $30, and the Chesky Stravinsky typically goes for +/- $130. I thought reissues sucked. : )

If these weren't intriguing enough, Barbirolli and Danon sup with Reiner's Brahms' 4th, Horenstein's Wagner, Wild's Chopin and Grieg (will he be glib?), Pretre's Ravel Daphnis (can't wait to hear that), Kempe's R. Strauss and Respighi, Munch's Tchaikovsky Francesca....

Keep an eye out for this....
