The Yamaha is an excellent player for the price. Well built, around 32 pounds, big, as well as superb sound. Sound from SACDs is amazing for the price, also sound using CDs with digital output makes this a hefty transport. Sound is somewhat paced very alive sounding with both SACD and CD. A tad on that grey/darkish side, very pleasing as the black background doesn't overshadow the alive performance. Not aggressive, not bright, just seems natural, I would say a tad less than neutral, it is a tad warm, but not overwhelmingly warm, almost like neutral with a sweater on.
