REVIEW: Wireworld Luna 16/4 Speaker Cable

First and foremost, I would like to thank Duster for his suggestion and support.

It has been a while now that I have considered upgrading from the Vampire Wire 12ga continuous cast copper hookup wire I've been using. Since my cables are about 20ft each leg, cost is an issue. Initially, Duster suggested the Stream 16/2 @$2.00/ft. For a few dollars more the Luna was an option. I paid $5.00/ft.N

The system/room:
Yamaha YP-06 TT (my LT-30 is in the shop)
Grado Sonata cart
TTVJ Hybrid Phono stage (Pangea c-7 P/C)
Cardas G Master Reference Studio Pro I/C
Sophia Electric EL-34 integrated amp (MAC HC P/C)
Cain & Cain Abby speakers
NSMT 15EXP Subwoofer (connected in parallel)
The speakers are about 13 ft apart with a built-in fireplace and bookshelves between in a 35X17 room (on the long wall) with 20ft cathedral ceilings and an open floor plan.

I'm not going to say that the Luna is finally nirvana or raised my modest system to a giant killer. What they do is enhance a number of subtle cues.
Detail and resolution: I now hear various voices more distinctly and separate from one another. Along this line, it's easier to distinguish parts that are overdubbed. With the VW stranded wire, much of this was smeared together. Finger playing on instruments provides a vision of hands/people playing rather than just sounds in a part of the stage. There are leading edges of notes now and when the music stops, it stops. There's the natural decay of notes, such as piano, without distortion-based overhang.
Sound: Tonally, the VW sounded correct. The Luna doesn't improve on tonality, but makes it sound more natural. Where, the VW would bring out specific frequencies that would get my attention (hey, I never heard that before), those same frequencies with the Luna are part of the music blending into a balance.
Soundstage: I always had a good center-fill with music independent of the speaker most of the time. There were occasional shifts and the vocals sat front and center on all recordings. Kind of a linear plane. Now, the depth is more defined with vocals being more specific to the recordings as far as stage presence. Instrumentalists, too are better defined within the stage. Drum sets are more prevalent and cause a more solid musical foundation. Because of the with of the speakers and the room constraints, nothing has changed to move the music outside of the speakers but they're mostly invisible anyway.
The music: I listen to mostly 60's & 70's rock & roll (Van, Joni, Dead, Beatles, Zep, A. Lee, Bruce, etc) and Sinatra-era vocalists (Prima, London, Darin etc). I can't say the studio walls are absolutely visual but on certain recordings, studio reverb is better from the back wall. I don't ask a ton from the system in the way of super complex (classical) music, but what complexities are there, are untangled allowing clarity not heard before.

Essentially, the Wireworld Luna speaker cables bring resolution, smoothness, balance, soundstage imaging and most of all, 'textures' to the music and those playing to the party.

Thanks again Duster.
