Not sure how this is related to this post, but I just hope, for Ketchup's sake, that there is no synthetic dye in it. Evidently, you can thank Ronald Reagan for that law (I presume he had to sign it).(Yes, many brands of ketchup do contain Red Dye 40 (FD&C Red No. 40) as an ingredient to enhance its color. While tomatoes naturally contribute to the red color, artificial dyes like Red Dye 40 are sometimes added to achieve a more vibrant hue. Verywell Health explains that it's an artificially made food additive derived from petroleum and oils. Livestrong.com notes that any food containing red dye must list it on the ingredient list.)
Well, I sure hope that they just use Heinz Ketchup as Red Dye is not listed in it's ingredient list. But, who would think that is what is commonly available? Not me.
