Necessaire body wash

If you go to the East Bay hills, you'll find plenty of eucalyptus trees.

In October 1991, the Oakland Hills firestorm raged, partially fueled by the flammable eucalyptus trees.

At the time, many of my friends, including Scylla, were freshmen at UC Berkeley. Initially, classes were canceled, so Scylla took a quick trip home to Richmond. She says, "I just needed a good shower. There wasn't a particular reason, but I switched from bar soap to body wash."

All else being equal, Scylla still prefers body wash over bar soap. Since she now has over 30 years of experience, some body wash brands have risen above others.

One of Scylla's (and my) favorite body wash is from Necessaire. If you got a Sephora gift card for Christmas, you could use it on cosmetics. Or, skip the cosmetics, and grab a sample pack of Necessaire body wash.

By trying the sample pack, you can determine if you even like this brand. And if you do, then you can decide which flavor/scent you like best, and buy a bigger bottle of that.

From a sampling of Tik Tok videos, online reviews, and asking around, I see more users preferring the eucalyptus scent.

Hinoki is Japanese cypress, and is my favorite.

Olibanum is frankincense, and is my least favorite. It smells like a bad candle.

Santal is sandalwood, and is arguably the most "masculine" scent.

I have a very weak sense of smell. So to me, all four of the Necessaire flavors are mild. If, however, you have a stronger sense of smell, you may disagree.

To me, these are best used with a mesh sponge or washcloth. They lather better, that way.

YMMV, but the Necessaire body wash does not leave a film. Therefore, you may feel done. Or, because there isn't a film, that may be prime, for you to use lotion or body oils.

In any flavor, a regular 250ml bottle is $25. This size seems to be most popular.

In any flavor, a larger 500ml bottle is $38.

If you can swing it, Necessaire's just might become your favorite everyday body wash.

'Round here, just a handful of tree trimming companies can tackle eucalyptuses. Even if you cut down to a stump, new shoots will sprout nearby. I'm not sure how you're supposed to kill a eucalyptus' roots.
