Nowadays people often deliver opinions first, leaving aside any discussion of facts. Short blunt declarations are now the standard for social media. Because simply declaring something makes it all more true. No need to demonstrate that one has any command or understanding of the thing one is passing judgement on.

I no longer expect people to be skilled in written communications. Or with their reading comprehension. But it is a glorious thing when news of the day can be discussed here with any depth.
