At least in the US. Nissan ended up buying a controlling interest in JATCO in order to get a handle on the durability issues, and as far as I know, the problems have been corrected.
My wife's Accent has a CVT, by the way, and I don't get all the hate for CVTs. I think it's better in operation than modern step gear transmissions that are programmed to shift in the highest gear as quickly as possible and stay there even under demand. Very annoying in operation, while the CVT is unobtrusive.
As far as longevity and repair costs, CVTs aren't any worse than 7-,8-,9-, and 10-speed step gear automatics. Like anything else, you have to take care of them.
