MEK is too savage to use as an everyday cleaner. It will strip paints and melt some plastics - or at least make some clear plastics go milky.
Solvent X55 was my longtime favourite cleaner - I think it's shellite plus a few other fairly tame ingredients, but it was fantastic for degreasing and cleaning car upholstery and clothing. Evaporates quicly without any trace.
