RE: Coffee suggestions wanted .....

In the 70s, long before Starbucks was a thing, I lived in the Italian/Bohemian neighborhood of San Francisco (North Beach). I discovered Graffeo coffee and have never found anything better. I'm in New Orleans now, which is a pretty good coffee town, but the best coffee I've tasted comes out of my kitchen using Graffeo beans that I get by mail order.

For many years, Graffeo was wholesale, though you could get roasted beans by the pound from the storefront on Columbus Ave by ringing the bell and waiting for someone to come out from the roasting factory in the back and deal with you. Cash only and no change offered. No receipt. It went straight into someone's pocket, but who cares?. A well-known secret was the Dunkin Donuts two doors down that served Graffeo coffee 24/7. Twenty cents for a waxed paper cup of the best coffee in the world. With free refills. Those were the days.

. . . in theory, practice and theory are the same; in practice, they are different . . .
