After a three-year absence, in 1994, I went back to Honolulu, my second home. Obviously, the first thing I wanted to do was visit the late Stewart Ono (AA's UncleStu52), at Audio Directions Ltd.
But after that, I was introduced to a slightly-different berry: açaí. It came from a Brazilian palm tree, and was made into a jam. It was combined with other fruits, granola, and yogurt. And this was called an "açaí bowl."
In the 2000s, açaí bowls became popular, here on the west coast. And now it seems like açaí bowls have become an everyday item, across the U.S.
I have braces, so the little bits gets stuck in my teeth and braces. My parents are in their 80s, and don't mind the little bits. They like açaí bowls used with fresh papaya. And yes, many Costco customers have complained about the Costco food court discontinuing not just combo pizza, but açaí bowls.
