I have an AF877, purchased new albeit long since retired from service.

I also have the (original) service manual for it (due to a speed fluctuation problem it had long, long ago -- which the dealer did ultimately manage to repair).
I mean, if you want to bring it up to northern NH sometime, I'd be happy to dissect it and clean the switch. I presume you mean it's a microswitch when you say "leaf switch"?

The plastic bases are notorious for warping over time -- last time mine was unpacked, it was still as new, though.
