Hi Guys,
I'm 74. No bags; but other things have crept up on me. My college EE courses were all about tubes. Someone asked if we were going to study transistors and the prof said: "if we have some time at the end of the semester, we can spend a week on them; but they have a lot of problems, and I don't think they'll amount to much". He thought the Nuvistor was the future.
Anyhow, I can still hear fairly well. Cut off is something over 13 kHz, so I still have a hobby. I pretty well gave up on tube gear about 30 years ago.
Piano recordings sounding like pianos? What a radical idea. Soon you'll be wanting violins to sound like violins, and voices to sound like real people. Well, yes! But I grew up with the concept of high fidelity - accuracy! I really don't want my system to editorialize -- well, except maybe a little extra bass.
No, I have no interest in cars from when I was 10. That was 1948. But, I'd gladly settle for a 1965 Alfa Romeo Veloce Spider, or a 1964 Porsche Super 90 coupe, or a Ferrari Berlinetta 250GT SWB - my fantasy car.
Jerry
