Which tuner to get and getting the most from it. Thank God, for the radio!

My question has to do with different signal meter readings. I have a FM directional rooftop antenna, with coaxial 6 cable for the whole run. I noticed today that my signal strength doubled, when I moved my tuner from one room to another. I am using the same antenna with two cable runs of equal length, no splitter. Can someone tell me why this is happening? Or what causes this.
