The absolute best thing you can do is go to the FCC page at http://svartifoss2.fcc.gov/cib/fcc475.cfm and fill out this form.

If the HD Radio installation is done correctly, there should be no artifacts. Problem is, most engineers don't do it correctly and it leads to the problems you are experiencing.

If you file a complaint with the FCC, be certain to cc a copy of your complaint to the station manager.

Next, visit the FM Tuner Group at www.fmtunerinfo.com - They focus on vintage tuners and if you join and go through their archives, they have identified many vintage tuners that have absolutely no problem with HD Radio artifacts.

HD Radio is in its infancy and it remains to be seen if it will be a successful technology. But let me ask you this: Would you trust a company that claims "CD Quality," which is a 1,440Kbps uncompressed bit rate, when the best HD Radio can muster is a 96Kbps lossy compression bit rate? And this bit rate gets cut in HALF each time a new HD Radio sub-carrier is added by the HD Radio station. And the HD Radio standard lets a single station broadcast up to 6 (six) HD Radio sub-carriers. Work the math and you'll find that a frog singing in a shower would have better fidelity!
