I have to say your conclusion generally agrees with what I eventually decided about the Creek T-43, which is similar but some better parts and supposedly better bass. Against the general reception negatives, though, I have to say that it made a very nice soundstage. And it was extraordinarily quiet (and, not coincidentally, sounded rolled off in the treble).
