You're right, you've found a secret treasure. I bought a dozen 59's at Circuit City. At that price who cares. You can actually mod them and further improve their sound. I suggest you do so. You increase the capacitors and improve the bass and depth. I shielded the case inside so no RFI. I also added a wire through the case which permits me to hook this up to a full antenna. It's the proprietary Sony all in one radio chip that's a knock out. As a test I hook it up to a Sennhesier 600 and it has no faults, not at any price. For Xmas I gave out a number of them modded as gifts. Enjoy.
