to light up the display. You need to find out the lamp voltage and the current you want for the white LEDs. You need to use a soldering iron. A display lamp dimming after warm up seems like a bad connection or resistor somewhere. You will need a volt meter to probe.

Solid State preamp, Vacuum Tube power amp.

Watch out for those high voltages. Get an amplifier Tech to look at it or wire your own CD lighting system if that is the only thing bothering you. You could use a wall wart and just power a pair of LED with a pair of wires.
