Home Tube DIY Asylum

Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

If you look at the schematic with ss devices installed

Russ,

It appears that they are not working, as long as the tube rectifier is ok. They only operate if the tube shorts, so that the anode-to-cathode resistance is zero. What I'm having a problem with is how slow-startup is maintained with the ss diodes attached (if they are actually working with a good tube rectifier). And how the "sag" of the GZ34 is maintained.

If they are only safety devices, there would be no need for $$$ items. In fact, if the amp suddenly turns on fast --- it's time to look at the rectifier. Right?

Interesting.
