I just did the same thing w/ a 27 pre, It was my 1st DIY. I put the rect... in between the VR tubes & 27's, bad mistake on my part. I did however conquer most of the hum & hiss by re-routing & shielding all AC wires. I actually used RG6 for 27 filaments mostly because I had the filiment trannie smack dab in the middle of DC land, I moved them.also I had my chokes direct under my PT & AC wires all over them., The complete re-wire & shielding knocked my noise to acceptable..
