Makes a change from mouthman

I've been called worse. I took it as a joke and, as they say, "If you can't take joke, don't laugh!"

Anyway, things are slow at the moment. I'm in Sydney and all my electronics stuff is in Indonesia. However, when we're reunited, I'm planning to convert my triode-strapped EL34 PP amp to pentode.

Why pentode? Well, I just want to see how good I can make a pentode PP class AB1 amp. After all, that's what EL34s were designed for and triode-strapping them seems like the easy way out (without the power).

I'll use a MOSFET as a voltage stabiliser for the screens and all preceding stages. Some would advise against that, especially the low DCR crowd (and I think they're probably right). However, I want to give pentodes a go and I can't afford to go out and buy new low DCR iron yet. So, stabilisation it is for now - I'll bite the bullet!

If I don't like it (or I get lead poisoning from the bullet), I can always change it back to triode again. I can't try UL, because my OP trannies don't have the necessary primary taps, but that's already been done to death by so many other people.
