Hi, enjoy the DR-M2!! I have one, and also the M3 and they are absolutely fantastic decks for the price. I got mine for $30 locally with manual in fantastic shape, and then the M3 off of Ebay for like $45 with box and manual. It was a steal.

The tape counter is extremely accurate. I was amazed that it could tell you how many seconds were left on a tape when recording. Very handy feature. The M3/M4 has e the "CTS" which will set the bias automatically after the computer does it's thing. It is fun to watch it go through it's paces and the cool blue digital display is nice also. Congrats!
