I think you might underestimate the demand for 15 ips master dubs at $100-200 per issue. Buy a recent copy of Stereophile or The Absolute Sound and take a look at how many $10,000 vinyl setups are being reviewed in those magazines. If there is considerable demand for $10,000 turntables (and all these companies wouldn't be cranking them out if there wasn't), there is going to be demand for $200 master tapes. Not millions, mind you; not even hundred-thousands, but 5,000 - yes, I can see that being possible. So let's say you decide to do a project like this, release 10 albums a year and sell 5,000 copies of each, making a modest $10 profit per sale. That's $500,000 in profit. Not a huge amount; nothing Sony or any mainstream company would even blink at. But enough to get a music-loving entrepreneur interested.
