Home Tape Trail

Reel to reel, cassette and other analogue tape formats.

That is a typical issue

As normally is the case, there is the right way of doing it, and there is the way I sometimes use. :)

The first one involves removing the pinch roller lever, then cleaning and lubricating its bushing.

That requires some mechanical skills and tools - things like the retainer ring pliers, etc. It would not have to be a specialized tape deck shop, just someone comfortable with electronics. In most cases it is not a complicated job, but I am not familiar with that particular deck.

However, in many cases you can make it work again by simply working it back and forth a few dozen times. Believe me, it works sometimes. So I would try it before elevating the issue.
