Well, the time has come for the release of the new Argos catalogue (a retail institution in the UK which comes out twice a year) and blank cassettes have survived into the new Autumn/Winter 2009 catalogue and have actually had a hefty price rise from Â£4.89 to Â£6.99 for a 10-pack of Maxell UR 90. Good to see tapes still being carried by this major retailer. Also, the blank VHS Maxell tapes have also undergone a major price increase from Â£6.99 to Â£9.99 for a pack of 5 E240s. Either they are taking advantage of the decreased availability of tape in some areas and increasing the price or Maxell are trying to get more profitability after years of dirt cheap prices now there is much less competition in the marketplace. 10-packs of UR 90s are still Â£3.95 at the Wilkinson chain.
