Carlos,First off the turns ratio makes what you say opposite! At full vol the turns ratio is less than when it is at it's lowest setting.
Look if you had DC running through your TVC either autoformer or transformer it would be a terrible!!! First the source would fail because the autoformer/transformer would look like a dead short to it. Secondly the inductance would go to hell and you would have no bass and phase issues that are impossible to fix without removing the DC path.
Lastly for 10K and 5 degree phase error at 20Hz you would need around 400H of inductance for an autoformer to work right. From what Dave has said in the past that his are like 25H which means the phase error at 20Hz would be pretty bad.
So what I want to know is if anyone has done frequency curves for different settings and also phase curves to see how these things are truely working.
Just from looking at the idea I would say they would be like tone controls changing with each settings & input Z. But I have not tested any such device.
But I am glad to see Dave is now commercially selling his product.
