I currently have an 8 ga/40 A Trendex cable running about 19 m from my main panel to a subpanel beneath my audio equipment (equipment about 5 m from the subpanel . . . the subpanel sitting in the basement beneath the room the audio equipment is in). The subpanel provides circuits for a number of things, including washer/dryler, boiler (hot water heating), jacuzzi, as well as a single dedicated circuit running to the audio equipment (1 + 1 duplex pigtailed to the end of the line).
What would be the choice for an upgrade to this:
1. Run separate 10 ga lines from the main to the audio outlets (perhaps 4 duplexes in total, 2 - 3 lines)
2. Run a larger gauge (?) line from the main to another subpanel, then feed dedicated audio lines to the outlets (one to each duplex, or perhaps pigtail duplex outlets so that perhaps 2 lines in total)
Any potential grounding issues that are inherent to either setup? I'm hoping that the 2nd results in equivalent to that of the first, as it is a much easier setup to install.
thanks
