RE: changing to lower output capacitor value in preamp

You may loose some bass. The design requires 2 uf to present the full range of frequencies. I would stay with the 2 uf if you upgrade. Changing to a 1 uf will not cause damage and you will not need to change any resistors. Another option is to use two 1 uf capacitors hooked in parellel, which equals 2 uf.
