Hi Martin,

I know it's been awhile since your post, but... the link below will take you to a good write up of a 300B amp project, incl. parts list, schematics, and construction details. Not sure what kind of project you're looking to get into, but this may be a good simple start albeit low- powered. Can't see how the ST-70 kit could be a bad choice either...
Another option would be restoring old P.A. amps into monoblocks which is fun and low cost. I have a couple Bogen CHA-33s that I like.
Good parts sources are: Angela Instruments, Antique Electronic Supply, and Parts Express to an extent.
