this question is about a very old car audio amp but its a unique peice and i'd like to save it from the parts pile!the unit in question is a very early pioneer car audio amp. its soo old, its made in USA! i think its one of the first aftermarket car audio amps offered. the amp appears to be maybe 10-15 watts per channel. inside it has a toroid in the center of the board that gets very hot even when the amp is just idling. the amp sounds fine at low volume but as you turn it up it sounds like its running out of "juice", as if the supply voltage is dipping too low. the audio will fade in and out when it's turned up. i checked voltage on the board to make sure i didnt have a problem with my power leads and they are fine. unfortunately i dont have a schematic and i doubt one can be obtained.
any clues?!?!?
