here's a message i received from a non-member, i think i originated this string incorrectly so the replies are coming to my email instead of the forum, so i'm copying it here (pre-comment: he thinks I'm talking about the output impedance to the speakers - I'm not - but the method is interesting):I saw your question on Audioasylum / Tech Square.
I did not bother to register, so therefore send this by email
maybe you can post it if it is useful)
Take a 10 ohm and a 20 ohm resistor (or some other useful values)
1. Measure the 20 Ohm resistor and record this as RH2. Measure the 20 & 10 ohm resistors in parallell and record this as RL
3. Put the 20 Ohm resistor on the amp and leave it there.
4. Fiddle with the input & frequency until you get a reasonable AC. Record this voltage as VH.
5. Leave the input EXACTLY the same, add the 10 Ohm res. in parallel to 20 Ohm already there and record the output AC RMS as VL.
Rout = (VH-VL) / [(VL/RL) - (VH/RH)]
