Hi.This is what I have done my homebrew so called AC line power conditioners.
First off, provide isolated power lines to analogue & digital DISCTRETELY. This is the most important first step - do NOT mix analogue & digital power lines.

If you get power off the wall sockets (which I would NOT do, being too prone to EMI/RFI interferences), don't share the common power socket.I would put AC line filters upstream or "before" the power transformer.
It seems you want to start from scrap with very limited knowledge.
But you've talking AC lines which can kill.May I suggest you to buy a cheapie in-line power line filter from a electrical or electronic component shop for only a few bucks. Open one up to check the details before you start to do anything.
Why put two power irons on one chassis? Too heavy & may be a source of hum is not isolated effectively.
I've been there & I find a good AC line conditioner or filter does
improve sound even with my cheapie homebrews.c-J
