CRATE VC508 problem

I have a Crate VC508 I've been modding. Well, I had all these cool changes and the amp was finally starting to sound pretty good, when I decided to replace the capacitors in the stage-coupling chain and with Auricaps (all the same MFD value, BTW). After I finished and turned the amp on it began making this whistling kind of oscilation when I tried to turn the gain knob beyond 6-7. It seems to be somewhere in the first two stages which are both IC stages. I must have hooked something up wrong, but I've been over and over it (two weeks worth) and just can't seem to find it. The last stage of the 12AX7 and the power amp section seem to be working fine. I've successfully hooked another preamp to the back end and it works.
Anyone have any thoughts?
