Hi,
I have a Marantz 2250B receiver that has a background hum problem. It works in all functions, FM, Phono, AM, AUX. From t2 I was told that the Power Supply Caps were probably old. I have not ordered the replacement PS caps yet. I thought I'd try to determine if it actually the PS caps. To troubleshoot the problem I tried this:I Bypassed the PS caps with 22uf 400V Solen Caps to see if the Hum would be reduced. Sadly there was no reduction of Hum.
Was this troubleshoot proof that the Hum was not a problem in the PS Supply?
Is this even a valid trouble shoot to determine if the PS Caps are bad?
Thanks,
Bru
