How to post photos on this site?

I simply want to display an image with my message, but I keep getting a small box with a red x in it. I have the image at 'Photobucket' and it should be a simple matter to copy and paste the contents of characters in the IMG box at Photobucket into the Optional Image box here at AA, so why doesnt the image display? Does AA only accept jpg images and not .gif?
