I've sold several items on Craigslist lately and there have been a couple of attempts to scam me. It goes the same way each time. The scammer says he'll take the item I have for sale but he can only pay with a check. He wants to mail a check for more than the amount of the sales item, with the overage to be given to the buyer's agents as payment for collecting the item. In one transaction for a $125.00 sofa, the scammer sent me a check for $1950.00! Do people really fall for this?
