RE: Posting a wanted ad = inite to scammers?

This was my experience as well. I recently posted a wanted ad for a pair of Harbeth Compact ES-7 3 speakers. The responses I got seemed very dodgy to me:

1 - They weren't AA members. Not necessarily definitive but it did raise a red flag.

2 - None of them actually mentioned the item I was looking for. Nothing at all about the speakers. No photos, nothing. There wasn't even a vague reference to audio.

I've since cancelled the ad as I made other arrangements but I'd be very careful in judging the validity of responses to wanted ads.
