Single Ended Triodes (SETs), the ultimate tube lovers dream.

RE: Now once we got silver and choke input out of the way

I was specifically talking about their output transformers and not their finished amplifiers.

They used to be regularly tested and used at the European triode festival and other get togethers and regularly won shootouts, having the best sound over competition like Tamura, Hashimoto, Lundahl etc.

I have not had an AN UK amp in my own system or heard them outside of an all AN UK system, so I cannot comment on the sound of the finished amp. The measurements in Stereophile though for the Jinro amp (211 stereo amp) I think looked pretty good for a SET.

As we know, no SETs really measure objectively well, however, this one isn't bad and has mostly low order harmonic distortion. I think with a good high sensitivity speaker this amp could sound very nice indeed. The more expensive version of this with Silver output transformers could be very special...but too expensive.

Kondo is a different animal and the ones I have heard, again with high sensitivity speakers, sounded sublime, although clearly with their own signature to the sound. I have heard a number of their SET and PSET amps as well as the superb sounding GakuOh PP 300B monos.
