If anything, all the nonsense I read seems to indicate that would be the last thing any die-hard member of either group wants.IMHO all that is needed is for any particular person to have a method that works for him to evaluate things. It matters not if others feel it isn't a valid way. I know what works for me and my friends and it matters not if it works for anyone else.
I mean if you try a mullard tube and think it is best but I like the telefunken better (assume at your house both hearing the same equipment/music) is either one of us right or wrong? IMHO what is important is that we agree on the differences between the two. In the end much of audio is simply a matter of taste. I think this is self-evident given the fact that tubes, solid state, vinyl, push pull, CD's, SET's, etc are all used and considered adequate.
I have even hear some claim that seeing is required to properly appreciate music and support that by pointing out that smell is essential to evaulating the taste of food. They even mention how high end equipment puts a lot of emphasis on looks. How is the sane person to counter such logic?
