MLS first produces an impulse response and from that is generated the TRUE phase and magnitude - not calculated, measured. The only method of measuring response still in use these days that generates its phase curve from minimum-phase assumptions (i.e., Hilbert transform)is the LMS system, which uses gated tonebursts to measure. MLS, Swept Sine (a.k.a. 'log chirp'), and direct impulse response measurements all get the frequency response by way of an impulse response, which contains all there is to get about the complex frequency response.
