Re: What's the problem with "brick wall" filtering?

I think that in the world of digital filters, I'm out of my league. I grew up and was educated in an analog world. I just don't know if it's true or not. There are various strategies for changing the usual relationship between amplitude and phase response even in analog circuits but not by the means normally used in filter design. I think they involve parallel signal paths but it's been close to 40 years and it was more of a curiousity for me than something of practical use at the time.
