I think the graph is very valid, but I'll live with such disagreement....I also want to state that I see your point when I stated "dither without filtering doesn't work".... I was being blunt..... What I should have stated was: "To fully realize the benefits of dither, the encoded (dithered) media should also be filtered at D/A, in order to best re-create the approximation of the pre-digitized waveform."
If you think the new quoted statement is incorrect, I'll live with disagreement there as well.
