Hi.IMO, Mass & isolation work together give best result.
My equipment rack (weighted down with marble slab), & my TTable concrete block stand (weighs 140lbs) are all on strong steel spikes,
which are seated rigidly onto wall-to-wall carpeted concrete floor.By doing so, they can handle up to 120dB SPLs (B-weighting, fast reponse, peak value reading) - no sweat.
