You read good and bad where they don't belong. I should point out that Mr. Hirsch did not say the high end amp sounded bad: indeed, he found it to be an excellent product and quite powerful. But it did sound a little different apparently, and the reason was obvious in the FR measurements as a reader pointed out in a letter.

No, I can't say I have heard the AR-LST, which I understand is quite hard to drive. I fail to see how Mr. Hirsch's taste in speakers (which is not the same as mine) has anything to do with the questions of what amplifiers sound different and why. Do you intentionally cultivate fallacious arguments?
