I've been using one of two mixers (Soundcraft Delta and Audio Developments Pico) as pre amp for a while now and couldn't be happier!
Line level signals run 11.79dB hotter in pro gear then domestic. Could this be the reason for the Marantz hum? But also some amps (my Quad for instance) just don't like signals coming from balanced sources, even if the connecting lead has been shorted as per factory instructions.
Pro gear tends to be of substantially higher quality then similar priced domestic, so I do not forsee any quality issues. I use an Echo Audio AudioFire 12 for ADDA conversion.
