Digitech GFX-1 Twin tube preamp issue...

I recently picked up a Digitech Twin Tube guitar preamp (the GFX-1) for an very good price (cheap as free, so how's that for a good price?).

My issue is this- when the unit has been powered up for a time (notably more than three or four hours), the sound cuts out on the unit. I can leave it alone for the time or play, but both end in the same result- no sound

By "cutting out", I mean that you can hit the guitar strings really hard and get a slight crackle sound, but nothing else.

I would like to see if I can remedy this myself before dumping any cash into it with a tech. While it was free, and does sound good, I simply don't want to waste money if its toast.

Any takers here (solutions thats is)? Bad caps? Loose connections? Preamp tubes (12AX7) have been replaced a few weeks ago. Help?
TIA

Cheers,
Dman
