I have generally accepted that it is better to rip in WAV or AIFF then convert to lossless FLAC.
A very anal buddy of mine surprised me when he told me he rips directly to Apple Lossless. He said several weeks of direct comparisons led him to conclude there was no difference in quality in ripping to uncompressed then converting, and ripping direct to lossless.
Any thoughts?
Also, does Apple Lossless handle 96 khz 24 Bit at this point?
