I don't know about the Mac but there are lots of audio editing software out there and I'm sure someone makes a simple editor for the Mac.Also, try googleing for audio editing software, freeware/shareware and see if anything there works for the mac.
I just did a quick google of Pro Tools, Sound Forge, Cool Edit and Audio Studio 10. All but Pro Tools, which is a professional based software will only work on PC's.
But do check Google for anything in the consumer realm that will work on the Mac. I'm sure there is something out there for you.
I personally like Cool Edit Pro. I however have an older version that was bundled with an old CD-R drive back in '96 and is not the full product. :-(
