Mother boards suck for audio purposes IMHO. Also, I don't know of any that will directly drive a speaker. Even fancy soundcards just give a low level signal or digital output...you still need an amp or powered speakers.
I did see a card by Marchand that WOULD drive some speakers, but you would be better of with an outboard amp. Also, all the mother boards I have seen resample from 44.1 to 48K...at least on the digital out.
