you mentioned you changed the grid stop resistors for the output tubes.
I was thinking about this. If the grids of the output tubes, or moreso the grid circuit for the output stage went open, the tubes would then be full on and would be drawing way more current then they should.
I'm sure if Ralph or Bill see this they can comment better then I of course but.
I would look at the driver to output stage section and check the Bias on the output tubes if you can power the amp up long enough to get a reading.
If the Grids are being held Negative at idle. they they are essentially biased on way too much. The grid stop resistors you changed may be causing a problem somehow.
Or is it possible you disconnected something like a bias pot or balance pot leg while working on the amp? or could it be that a wire came loose? sometimes the simplest things cause the biggest problems!
